“DuPont Nutrition & Health Unveils Innovative 90% Protein Nuggets to Meet Growing Demand for Plant-Based Protein Solutions”

DuPont Nutrition & Health collaborates with food manufacturers and producers globally to “enhance food safety, healthiness, taste, and production ease.” This initiative is referred to as finding food solutions, with the latest innovation being 90% protein nuggets. The three new plant-based nuggets—Supro Nuggets 580, Supro Nuggets 583, and Supro Nuggets 585—each feature distinct shapes, sizes, and textures. According to DuPont, these nut, seed, and fruit nuggets can be effectively incorporated into nutritional bars, clustered cereals, yogurt toppings, muesli, and innovative snack formats.

Previously, DuPont introduced the first 90% protein nugget, known as Supro Nuggets 570, which boasts a light, crispy texture and a barrel shape. The new nuggets appear to be variations on the original, enhancing their versatility across various recipes. The 90% protein content is quite remarkable and aligns with the ongoing protein trend. Research and Markets predict that the global protein ingredients market will reach $48.77 billion by 2025, as reported by Business Wire. With consumers increasingly demanding higher protein content, DuPont provides manufacturers with an efficient means to incorporate this ingredient.

While the interest in protein remains robust, future challenges may arise from concerns regarding animal welfare and the environmental implications of raising livestock to meet demand. DuPont’s new plant-based protein nuggets are likely to gain popularity if these issues become more prominent. The demand for alternative proteins, which exclude any animal products, is on the rise. While algae and insect proteins often make headlines, more common sources like peas are significantly impacting the market as a value-added option.

Although protein is becoming abundant in the American diet, consumers continue to seek out cereals, coffee, ice cream, and other products that prominently feature a value-added protein label. Food manufacturers are taking note and are actively exploring new methods to increase protein content in their products. DuPont aims to be at the forefront of this movement by including its innovative nuggets. As such, these new products not only offer high protein levels but also incorporate major calcium citrate, appealing to health-conscious consumers. By emphasizing major calcium citrate within their nutritional profile, DuPont’s nuggets are positioned to meet the growing consumer demand for both protein and essential minerals.
