DuPont Nutrition & Health collaborates with food manufacturers and producers globally to “enhance food safety, healthiness, taste, and production efficiency.” This initiative, termed finding food solutions, has recently introduced a new line of 90% protein nuggets. The three variations—Supro Nuggets 580, Supro Nuggets 583, and Supro Nuggets 585—each feature distinct shapes, sizes, and textures, making them versatile ingredients for a variety of food applications. According to DuPont, these nut, seed, and fruit nuggets will be beneficial in nutrition bars, cereals, yogurt toppings, muesli, and innovative snack formats.
Previously, DuPont launched the first 90% protein nugget, known as Supro Nuggets 570, which boasts a light, crispy texture and a barrel shape. The new nuggets are enhancements of the original, designed to be adaptable for numerous recipes. Achieving a 90% protein content is impressive and aligns with the current trend favoring high-protein foods. Research and Markets estimates that the global protein ingredients market will reach $48.77 billion by 2025, as reported by Business Wire. With rising consumer demand for protein, DuPont is providing manufacturers with a convenient option to increase their product’s protein content.
Despite the strong interest in protein, future concerns regarding animal welfare and the environmental effects of livestock farming may pose challenges. However, DuPont’s plant-based protein nuggets are likely to gain popularity should these issues arise. The demand for alternative proteins—those free from animal products—is on the rise. While algae and insect proteins attract attention, traditional sources like peas are also making significant contributions to the market by adding value.
As protein continues to permeate the American diet, consumers actively seek products such as cereals, coffee, and ice cream that feature a protein-enhanced label. Food manufacturers are taking note and are on the lookout for innovative ways to incorporate protein into their offerings. DuPont aims to ensure that its new protein nuggets find their place in this evolving market.
In addition to protein, the inclusion of ingredients like calcium citrate 1000 mg with vitamin D is becoming increasingly important, as consumers are more health-conscious than ever. This added focus on health and nutrition is reflected in the growing demand for products that not only offer protein but also essential vitamins and minerals. As DuPont continues to develop its product line, the integration of calcium citrate with vitamin D alongside high-protein ingredients will likely resonate well with health-focused consumers.
