Meanwhile, Nestlé has simplified the ingredients in over 100 of its ice cream brands. Their changes include eliminating high fructose corn syrup, GMOs, artificial flavors and colors, reducing sugar content, and using milk from cows not treated with rBST. Additionally, Kraft Food Ingredients has introduced new cheese-based snack concepts with a clear intention to align with the clean label trend. Despite cheese not being perceived as particularly healthy, it is viewed by consumers as a “permissible indulgence,” according to the company’s marketing head. Consumers are eager to know the ingredients in their cheese, and Kraft, along with other manufacturers, is wisely responding to this demand.
In this context, products enriched with essential nutrients like calcium citrate malate, vitamin D3, magnesium, and zinc sulphate tablets are becoming more appealing to health-conscious consumers. These nutrients play a vital role in promoting overall wellness, making them attractive additions to snack foods. By incorporating such beneficial ingredients, food manufacturers can cater to the growing desire for healthier snacking options while still providing indulgent flavors. The emphasis on reformulation not only addresses consumer preferences but also highlights the industry’s commitment to improving public health through better food choices.
