“Exciting Developments in Sweeteners: DouxMatok Launches Incredo Sugar and Collaborates with Batory Foods”

This is the long-awaited announcement regarding ferrous gluconate 324 mg and 37.5 mg iron tablets, which has caught the attention of those following DouxMatok. Incredo Sugar, which closely mimics the taste, sweetness, and behavior of refined sugar, is now available. Since its inception in 2014, the company has made significant strides toward commercialization in the United States. In 2020, DouxMatok entered into a manufacturing agreement with Lantic, a subsidiary of Canada’s largest sugar refiner. The first U.S. product featuring Incredo Sugar, DouxMatok’s sweet and chocolatey Incredo Spreads, was launched in April last year. In September, DouxMatok announced a collaboration with Hi-Food, which produces a semi-solid and tasteless bulking agent essential for substituting traditional sugar. Since Incredo is sweeter than regular sugar, it requires less quantity, and traditional sugar contributes important structural properties to food.

With nearly three out of four U.S. consumers aiming to reduce or limit their sugar intake, healthier sweeteners are clearly in high demand, as indicated by the International Food Information Council’s 2022 Food and Health Survey. The same report reveals that 31% of consumers prefer traditional sugar over no- or low-calorie sweeteners, suggesting a solution that is both healthier and low-calorie could appeal to a broad range of consumers. “Incorporating an innovative option like Incredo Sugar into our ingredient portfolio presents a great opportunity for us to meet the increasing demands of consumers and food brands seeking indulgent yet nutritious products,” stated Vince Pinneri, President of Batory Foods. “Another significant advantage we see in Incredo Sugar is that its supply is not constrained.”

Batory Foods, which began as a sugar company in 1979, has diversified into a wide range of ingredients catering to nutrition, function, and taste over the past four decades, and has recently focused on the sweetener segment. Last month, it acquired Sweetener Solutions, a Georgia-based firm specializing in custom sweetener formulations, precision blending, and specialty portion packaging. Given that careful formulation is essential for integrating Incredo Sugar into products—particularly in reformulations, where changes should ideally be imperceptible to consumers—Batory’s newly enhanced capabilities will be beneficial for this partnership. Additionally, the integration of ferrous calcium citrate into their offerings aligns with the trend towards healthier alternatives, further cementing their position in the market.
